X2D Ranch Ministries of Ault, Colo. is an outreach organization serving the ranching, rodeo and
Western communities—and countless others—through active and consistent community
involvement. Through it all, the vision is to serve the Lord and spread the Gospel through
preaching the “old old story” of salvation through Jesus alone.

The ministry is active with numerous events and special occasions. Weekly activities include
bronc riding, breakaway roping and rodeo practices at Double Check Arena (Eaton, CO), plus
Better Man men’s group. Monthly gatherings include potluck services, youth nights and X2D
Ladies’ Round Up Bible study at Tradecraft Coffee (Eaton, CO). Yearly events include a
community Christmas party, the Shawn Herring Memorial wagon trip and the special blessing of
hosting cowboy church during the National Western Stock Show.
Additionally, X2D Ranch Ministries is blessed to serve the Lord and community in more
amazing ways, including sponsoring the Pierce Food Pantry and holiday food drives, Christmas
toy drives, Weld County Faith Council, benevolence funds, various rodeo church services, and
the newest venture—X2D Feed the Need program where meat is provided to families in need.

Dave Shumpert Jr. and Doreen (Wright) Shumpert were married on May 16, 1998 and as they
say—the rest is history.
Dave spent some of his youth overseas (dad Shumpert was a career US Marine) but also grew
up in Arizona and eastern Colorado ranchin’, ropin’ and ridin’ colts. After relocating to Berthoud,
Colo. in 1990 with a trailer full of possessions and a truck full of kids (Sean, Megan and Codi) he
went to work for Little Thompson Water District (35 years and counting) while also running a full-
time horse training/team roping operation on the side for many years.
Third generation Colorado native Doreen grew up in Longmont and Berthoud, Colorado
showing horses and running barrels (4H, saddle club, AQHA, POA, buckskin, open), judging
horse shows, and enjoying pioneer family gatherings in our gorgeous Rocky Mountains. Doreen
graduated from Colorado State University in 1996 with a BA in Technical Journalism/equine
concentration and was blessed to write for over 50 publications and serve as editor for team
roping, barrel racing and association magazines. Additionally, it was her special honor to serve
as volunteer and vendor coordinator for Art of the Cowgirl the past several years.

In 1991, when Doreen joined the CSU rodeo team, local barrel racing legend Carol Ellis sent
her to take team roping lessons from some dude up by Carter Lake named Dave Shumpert.
Well…Dave stole Doreen’s head horse, she mysteriously ended up heeling (for Dave) on
Dave’s former Bruce Ford buckin’ horse “Hoss” and they were engaged in 1997. Now—here we
all are!
Dave and Doreen have been blessed with a wonderful family and children including son
Sean/daughter in law Danna and grandkids Colten, Cameron and Riley; daughter
Megan/husband Tad and grandsons Brody and McCoy; daughter Codi; daughter Bailey/son in
law Mark and grandson Gus; and daughter Chancey Shumpert. Together, each plays a part in
blessing and supporting X2D Ranch Ministries through prayer, and their gifts/talents and
outreach participation.
Over the past several years, the family has raised Blanton bred horses, traveled all over to POA
shows, 4H shows and youth rodeos with Bailey and Chancey, and have always maintained a
good herd of cows. Now as official “empty nesters” Dave and Doreen remain active in much the
same, plus—of course—working for the Lord via X2D Ranch Ministries.
We are richly blessed and pray the same for you and your family!
